Study on Passivation to Reduce Rusty Rate of the New Purchsed Stainless Steel Surgical Instruments

      • Objective By passivation of the new purchased stainless steel surgical instruments to reduce rusty rate and to prolong the life of the complex stainless steel surgical instruments, and to save department cost. Methods Through passivation, instruments can enhance the ability to resist external corrosion. We carry out statistics of instruments' rust rate for one year. Results Instruments' rust rate of test group is 4.27%, is far below that of contrast group. Conclusions Through passivation of the new purchased multiplex stainless steel surgical instruments, equipment corrosion rate was significantly lower than that before the original untreated, we can see that passivation can reduce the rust rate, extend the life of the instrument.
