Abstract
As a novel ophthalmic drug delivery system, drug-loaded contact lenses have overcome the limitations of traditional ophthalmic drug formulations and possess characteristics such as high bioavailability, low toxicity and side effects, and prolonged effective drug delivery. Currently, the majority of research on drug-loaded contact lenses remains in the developmental design or preclinical stages. This article provides a comprehensive summary and discussion of the quality evaluation methods for drug-loaded contact lenses in recent years, focusing on aspects of efficacy, safety, and physicochemical properties.
