Abstract: Hyaluronic acid is a linear, high molecular weight glycosaminoglycan. It has the characteristics of good biocompatibility, hydrophilicity and antigenicity. In this paper, the application of hyaluronic acid in the fields of ophthalmology, surgery, arthritis, cosmetic surgery and trauma repair is reviewed as well as the potential application in the field of tissue engineering.
